February 7 on 7 Project

The day I chose was a day we went to a local Civil War Reenactment.  Civil War in Southern California, hmmm.  But it was a good excuse to hang out with friends!

Thanks for looking - now check out: http://pardonmychaos-amanda.blogspot.com/

Better Late Than...

well, you know the rest...

It was a very busy day for me.  I had to shoot a farewell tea for one of the wives here on post.  (We Army Wives still do Teas and Balls other fairytale things once in awhile!)  Most of the photos are from that event.  Have a good time looking then check out Anika at http://anikaalonzo.wordpress.com/

7 on the 7th Project - January

The idea behind this project is to take 7 photos all on one day, then post all of them the 7th of every month.  I took my photos this past Wednesday, when our entire post was in an all-day blackout while they fixed the electrical grid.  Luckily I was a beautiful day and the entire post seemed to spend the day outside playing and chatting.  It was a great day.

We were terribly jetlagged from our Christmas trip and so we were up veeeerrry early.  Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a morning person.  So getting to see the sunrise was a nice treat.  thought this was a good shot to begin the day without electricity.

I started off the day by having breakfast with a dear friend and her fabulous kids at a groovy local diner that had power.  We all had a great time.

In the afternoon I got to go see another friend's husband get promoted.  Congrats!  Very well deserved.

Her family looked so cute standing up front waiting to promote their dad.

Her youngest son is camera shy. Loved his not-yet-grown-into teeth!

We ended the afternoon by playing outside with all the neighbor's kids.  We brought out cake and cookies and had an impromptu block party.  I took some shots of a bunch of the kids, and I think I like this one best, even with the booger.

The power finally returned in time to make dinner.  A unique and fun day to remember.

I'm baaaaaack! And with a new project.

Hello folks!  I have been sadly, sadly neglecting the blog as you can see but I have a new project so hopefully it will inspire new posts.  I am doing a 7 or the 7th photography challenge.  The 7th of every month I will post 7 photos that I took during the course of one day.  6 other photographers are doing it, too, and and soon as I figure out how, I will link their blogs as well.

Up to Now

Yes, I've been a bad, bad blogger.  Here's the last few months in a nutshell:
-Soldier-Boy returns home.
-Five days later I end up in the hospital for emergency surgery on my perferated appendix.
-Three days after the surgery they take our household goods away.
-Several weeks of shipping things, cleaning, sorting, selling a car, living in an empty house, developing infections from the surgery and generally going bonkers follow.
-Eventually we end up in Munich for a few days of a mini vacation before flying to visit Nana and Grampy.
-Several weeks visiting Nana and Grampy follow during which we:
-Get new cell phones.  Yeah, iPhone!
-Test drive several cars and decide on one to buy.
          - Get croup and an ear infection (LSP).
          -Run a 5K with Aunt L and Uncle M.
-Actually go out to dinner alone.
          -Do some actual relaxing.
-Next we fly to LAX and stay in a hotel that night.
-The next day we:
-Take a taxi to a car dealer.
          -Buy a car.
          -Eat lunch and
-Drive to the new duty station and check into the hotel there.
-At this point LSP says, "But we stay in lots and lots and lots of hotels!"

Let me pause here to mention that we had been told we would be in the hotel anywhere from one to three MONTHS waiting on a house.  Literally 15 minutes before we walk out of Nana and Grampy's house to get the plane to Cali we get and email telling us there is a house available.  So Months has turned into just over a week and today we signed for our new house.  Comedy hi jinks to follow as we attempt to spend the weekend painting before the household goods arrive Monday.

She loves this and calls it "swing ups" - or it's a 32 pound kettlebell.

Feeling Uncle A's "scratchy face."

First haircut!

She said she was playing the piano.

She loved the arts and crafts center.

The desert sure does have a lot of rocks!
