Ice Cream Envy - Day 38

Today Grampy and I took LSP to a locally well-know homemade ice cream place. LSP loooooooves ice cream, so she's got to try them all! We got her a dish of creamy, delicious ice cream and she settled down in a kiddie chair to enjoy it. Next to us was a group of people with a little boy who looked a few months younger than LSP. He was eating melon chunks out of a plastic container. He looked over at LSP who was totally ignoring him and shoveling in the ice cream at a high rate of speed. The boy watched her eating then pointed wordlessly to her ice cream, giving his grandmother a beseeching look. "Do you want some edamame?" the grandmother cooed, producing another plastic container. Seriously?!? You bring the kid to this fabulous hommeade ice cream place and you serve him melon chunks and soybeans? I am pretty sure that might be child abuse. He continues to watch LSP as she polished off her entire bowl of ice cream and ask for more. I considered calling Child Protective Services for the kid.

When we got home Nana had the sprinkler going on her flowers. LSP loves anything to do with water, but this was her first experience with a sprinkler. She was thrilled of course, and ran all around, getting as wet as possible in the mist, then finishing the job by sitting in the driveway puddles the sprinkler created. All and all a near perfect summer day for a little girl.

See Daddy! - Day 37

Today Shiloh had her follow up at the vet for her elbows. She has been on reduced activity now for 2 weeks. This means not allowing a 3-year-old Golden Retriever to jump or run or bounce or get too excited. Yeah, right. The vet was pleased with her progress, and she is now allowed 1/2 mile walks once or twice a day. We will slowly step it up over the next 4 weeks until she is walking 2 miles. Then yet another vet recheck. If she is still doing well then, we will slowly be able to return to running and jumping and acting like a Golden Retriever.

LSP watched a video of Daddy reading her a book three times in a row today. "See Daddy!" she said. And later this afternoon he caught me on the IM, so we got to chat online awhile. It was good to get to "talk" to him in a 21st century kind of way.

The Heat is On -Day 36

Hurrah! More photos from Soldier-Boy today.

First of all, I have finally loaded up photos from the last 4 days of craziness, so if you are one of my hundreds (dozens?) of loyal blog readers, go back through the last 4 days or so to see new photos.

Not much here to report. It was hot here today, 93 degrees with near 100% humidity. The air felt like water and smelled like an old gym sock. It was pretty nasty. Made me think about how hot Soldier-Boy must be all the time. So we mostly stayed in the house today. The big excitement was taking the trash down to the street and picking up a pizza. Lots of rest and recovery from the wedding-a-thon.

LSP's speech is really taking off, she says so many things and such complex sentences. And she remembers everything! We have only read "Make Way For Ducklings" to her a couple of times, and not at all recently, and tonight in the tub she was calling her rubber ducks by the names of the ducklings in the book. Crazy!

Return to Reality - Day 35

Running to greet Sarah.

A hug for Shiloh.

Today we returned from out 4 day party. It was sad to leave the rest of the crew. We have been friends for over 10 years, and it was wonderful to be back together again. We picked right up where we left off and it was like we were never apart. That's real friends. Not just friends - Sisters By Choice.

The flight back was much better than the flight there. LSP slept part of the way and watched Elmo the rest of the time. Back and Nana and Grampy's house she was thrilled to find several puddles in the driveway, "Baby sees puddles!" and proceeded to jump and sit in them

It was a really, really great time, and now we have to adjust back to real life. Love and hugs to BrideT and the TLC Crew!

Photos to follow soon...probably tomorrow. I'm going on 2 hours of sleep.

It's a Nice Day For.... - Day 34

We react when the minister (and groom's father) reveals that the ringing cell phone we hear is his!

I mean, seriously, could we be cuter??

That is one good looking bunch of people!

BrideT had trouble getting the ring on. When she did, she said to the congregations: "That's not coming off!"

Wedding day! What a day of chaos and fun. The weather was perfect and the company was fabulous! We started out the day getting ready together at the hotel. The mimosas were flowing, we were updating statuses on Facebook, there was lots of hairspray and laughter. How many people does it take to get a dress on a bride? A lot. 4 bridesmaids, the bride, the mother of the bride, a baby, several visitors and a photographer crammed into one tiny hotel room! The best kind of chaos.

Next was the ceremony. It was outside with a view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains - beautiful! The only thing more beautiful was the bride! Everything went perfectly - except when the minister (and father of the bride) forgot his cell phone in his pocket and it rang - a catchy Calypso tune. We were all so happy for them. The TLC crew was one sniffling, teary bunch of bridesmaids. After the ceremony was the whirlwind of photos. And the TLC crew took over the photo set-up from the photographer completely. We know our stuff!

Inside the reception was a blast. Great music, wonderful food. TLC crew got down, down, down to "Rock Lobster", we ate yummy cupcakes and had a ton of fun. The photos will tell the story, and I'll get around to posting those soon. After it was all over we all returned to the house, including the bride and the bride's new sister-in-law to chat and visit.

Eventually the bride ran out of steam went home with her new hubby, leaving the TLC crew to sit up to the wee small hours talking. Who needs sleep?

TLC Crew - Day 33

Beautiful ladies!

Jewelry shopping!

C's first margarita!

NGo busts a move.

This morning was the rehearsal. We bridesmaids donned our "TLC Crew" t-shirts (short for "T loves C") and our pink tiaras and our large plastic "diamond" rings and grabbed our pom-poms and headed for the hotel. We had a great time, and BrideT managed to not be too embarrassed by us!

After we went downtown again and did a bit of shopping, spending most of our time checking out the local jewelry stores. We got some great bargains. Lots of the stores her have military discounts and everyone is super nice. Took me awhile to realize why everyone was staring at us though... we were still wearing our t-shirts and tiaras.

The rehearsal dinner tonight was at a wonderful Mexican place...with really, really strong margaritas. Only one needed!

LSP did really well all day, having fun with the other kids and playing outside. We're going to try to head to bed early tonight....big day is tomorrow!
