Of Eyes and Ears - Day 11

Listening to Aunt L whistle to her.

Reading Curious George with Uncle M.

Ooooooh - a turtle!

Sick? Who, me?

Successful bubble blowing.

Look what the humidity here is doing to her hair! So cute!

In Nana's garden.

Feeding the birds.

Yesterday evening LSP had one eye that was a little gooey. I was hoping it was because of the pollen, or the sandbox. But this morning she woke up with her left eye glued shut. Ug. Looks like a visit to the doctor is needed. BUT...that was easier said than done. I will save you the ugly details, but let's just say between jumping through the Tricare hoops, and dealing with a doctor's office that has no idea how to handle Active Duty Tricare Prime I was basically on the phone from 7 am to 10:30 am.

When we finally got to see a doctor in the afternoon, she took one look at the crying, gooey-eyed LSP and said, "Let's look at those ears." Sure enough - DOUBLE ear infection. With it spread to BOTH her eyes to boot. Poor thing! So off to the pharmacy...where we discover that the amoxicillin is full of, yes, you guessed it, Red Dye #40. (For those of you not in the know, Red Dye #40 makes LSP crazy, crazy, crazy hyper. A totally abnormal off-the-wall, crazed demon hyper. You should have seen the time she ate a red Swedish Fish! It was epic. So we didn't want that.) Some calls back to the doctor and consulting with the pharmacist found us an alternative. So now we have antibiotics and eye drops for her.

It was a beautiful afternoon, so despite her multiple infections, she had a great time spending the afternoon outdoors. She got to see a turtle, fill the bird feeders, pull weeds and blow bubbles. Quite a full agenda.
