Errands - Day 120

Today I ran like a million errands. LSP was very cute, repeating everything I told her and asking where everything was, "Where's the Tricare office?" "Where's the store?"

LSP has been sick and we may be watching too much Curious George. Tonight we saw an episode where George eats a honey sandwich and she came racing into the kitchen, "Want a sandwich! Want a sandwich! With honey. Like George." I don't think she has any idea what honey is. This afternoon she saw a bird and she yelled, "What's that? A homing pigeon!" (One of George's friends is a homing pigeon named Compass.) In the post office they had a TV to entertain kids and they were playing one of the Shrek movies on it. She kept yelling, "Mommy! Fix the TV! Mommy! Fix it!" I couldn't find anything wrong with the TV. Except that it was not playing George.

Daytime - Day 119

Grampy calls this look: Mouse Peeking Out from Under a Haystack.

Collecting rocks.

She wanted a sandwich for dinner, "like George", then ate it with her elbows sticking out.

In Germany we have these really great metal roll shades that cover the windows and effectively block out all the light. The last 3 mornings when I go to get E out of bed, I pull up the shades and she yells, "It's DAYTIME!" in this surprised voice.

One of her favorite "toys" the last few days are a pile of velcro hair curlers that I let her play with. She loves to stick them together, put them inside each other and line the up. The cutest part, though, is that she calls them "hair whirlers." Not inaccurate!

Circles - Day 118

Mmmm, cake balls!

Sidewalk chalk with the birthday girl!

Today we went to a birthday party - LSP's favorite thing! It was for A, the 1-year-old daughter of my ex-pat friend, J. I call her my ex-pat friend because she is an American living in Germany who is NOT affiliated with the military. How cool is that? Anyway, the party was great. J and her mom cooked up a STORM! I have not seen food like that in awhile. LSP ate 4 (or maybe it was 5) cake balls on a stick, and 2 cupcakes. And about a dozen corn chips. She also got to play with sidewalk chalk, the first time ever. She was fascinated with how it did not draw on the dirt, or on the grass, only, as she put it, "on the street!" We didn't get to stay for dinner as my little jet-lagged one started to wear out and we had to head home. J did send me home with some of the best pulled pork I have ever had. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Yum.

Tonight before bed LSP was trying to poke me in the eyes. (She really wants to touch an eyeball.) She looked deep into my eyes and said, "Circles in there!" So we had to look in the mirror at the circles in her eyes. Shapes are everywhere.

Anatomy Lesson - Day 117

Fun in the park today.

Tonight she shut all the doors in the upstairs hallway and turned off the lights and wanted me to dance in the dark hallway with her, to no music at all. Very cute.

Today in the PX we walked past the magazine rack and LSP spied a weightlifting magazine with a ridiculously muscled woman in a bikini on the cover. She pointed and yelled happily, "Belly button!" Kids are great.

She has a little bit of a cold and today when we were playing in the backyard her nose started to run. So what did she do? Ask me to wipe her nose? No. Wipe her nose on her sleeve? No. Wipe her nose on me? No. She went over to the screen door, pressed her face against it and blew her nose into the screen. Yup, that's right, a screen full 'o snot.

PX, Commissary - Day 116

LSP and A share the swing.

Jet lag is a blast! We were up until 2:30 am, then slept until noon. So here it is, 11 PM and we're still up!

Today was just errands, our usual haunts - the commissary and PX, and a small serving of Army red tape just so we'd know we were home. We've got a bunch of unpacking, cleaning and sorting done. I emptied out the medicine chest and it was like all the medicines got together and expired at once!

LSP had fun rediscovering her toys and playing with them. That and George, of course.

Home - Day 115

Good friends stock your fridge with the important stuff before you get home! Thanks D & L!

Watching George at home. Too tired to take a better photo.

The flight went as well as flights can go with a 2-year-old. I got lots of compliments on her behavior from other passengers, so that was nice. When we got home, LSP was at first confused and overwhelmed, then she dove right into playing with her toys. She asked for Nana and Grampy and Shiloh and Sarah and when we went into Daddy's office she asked for him, too. She now says, "Daddy in Afghanistan," after she asks where he is. We got to visit with her friends B, A and E for awhile, then off to bed to try to battle jet lag. Can't believe we will be going back across the pond again soon!

Heading Out - Day 114

Looking for planes.

This morning at breakfast LSP tried out her new booster chair. She loved it!

Today Nanny came over for awhile to visit with us before we headed out to the airport. We are headed back to Germany for a short while to take care of some stuff there. LSP did well in the airport, she usually does. She loved looking out the window at the planes flying. Fun at the airport! Love it when they pre-board us! We are sad to be leaving Nana and Grampy's house. We had a wonderful summer with tons of fun. Without a doubt LSP has the very best grandparents in the world! We are going to miss them a lot in the new few weeks before we head back. Looking forward to it!
