French Kraut - Day 25

My child does not eat normal food. Bean, olives...yum, yum!

My college pal Aaron put a super nice shout-out on his blog for MY blog. That was very cool of him, especially since I am sure he has WAY more readers than I do. If you are one of my readers and have not checked out Aaron's blog you really should. He was a stand-up comic in college and writes some really funny stuff. He was the one who could always make us laugh. (And by "us" I mean the motley crew of cottage-cheese-singing holligans I hung around with.) He's a serious, intellectual, academic now, he's even written a book! A serious book! A LONG book! But he still can write some super funny stuff, too. Check out his blog, you'll be sure to laugh out loud.
For Fathers Only (Though it really isn't.)

I went into Christmas Tree Shop today. Anyone who has been to New England has seen the Christmas Tree Shop, and if you encountered a rainy day here, you probably dropped $100 in one. I used to work there, and it is the most incredible store full of...well, stuff no one needs. And it's all so cheap you usually find something, something that you don't need at all, that you didn't know you couldn't live without. On a rainy summer weekend the line of people with carts overflowing wound around the store. A wooden lighthouse with a real shell glued to it? Check. Foam sun visor with a Red Sox logo one it? Got it. Dish towel with teddy bears on it? No problem. They have a food section, too, where you can buy all manner of things that have been discontinued by more discerning stores. Today I saw "Bavarian Style Sauerkraut" and right next to it, a bottle of Blaukraut (aka Rotkohl) which was labeled "Red Cabbage." The most disturbing thing, however, was the fact that, since the product was probably packaged for sale in the US and Canada, the label was in English and French. Somehow, seeing the words in French managed to make Sauerkraut even less appealing.

That was pretty much the highlight of the day, unless you count the really terrible run I took or the trip to the dentist where the lady cleaning my teeth scraped at them for HOURS. OK, so it wasn't hours, but it sure felt like it.

LSP had her usual fun with Grampy and Nana, put-put-putting all around the house, forcing Grampy to watch stuff on the computer, being all cute and cuddly. Just another day for LSP.

Soldier-Boy has been emailing every day, though lately his emails have been short. Work is picking up there and soon he will be very busy. Hopefully that will make the time pass faster for him.
