A Dog-Gone Good Book - Day 46

Sarah looks like she is looking at the book here, but I think she was sniffing LSP's hand looking for leftovers from lunch.

This morning LSP spied my parents' dog, Sarah, relaxing on the sofa. Sarah is very good with LSP, she is a very gentle dog, but she is not particularly playful and often has a look of exaggerated patience with LSP's advances. Today LSP announced "Read to Sarah!" She got a book, wedged herself onto the sofa next to the hapless dog and "read" her the book. Sarah participated by allowing herself to be whacked in the face with several book pages. When LSP was done she said "I read to Sarah!" and got another book to share with the pooch. Finally Sarah had enough and split, but it was cute while it lasted.

This afternoon LSP went to play at a friend's pool. She screamed half the way there because she wanted to swim NOW! (Luckily it was not a far drive.) Once there she loved getting in and out of the water. And in and out of the water. And in and out of the water.... She also loved watching the big kids in the water. Of course she wanted to jump off the diving board like they did, something I had to discourage!

When I was pregnant with LSP she was transverse for the entire pregnancy. (For the men out there that means she was lying sideways, instead of head up or head down.) In addition to being very uncomfortable for me, this meant that she was really, really squished in there. The doctor told us that she would probably be curled up more than the usual newborn. And she was. We hardly needed to swaddle her because her little legs were pulled up so tight when she was sleeping. Her Daddy took to calling her "Tree Monkey" because he said it looked like she was clinging to a tree branch. Well, it stuck and to this day we still occasionally refer to her as "The Monkey." (We'll have to cut that out one of these days. She probably won't like it when she's 16.) Coincidentally, she has totally fallen for Curious George. She loves the books, the TV show and her George stuffed animal, who she routinely dresses up in her clothes. Because of all these monkey connections, we tend to get her monkey-themed clothes when we see them. Well, today she just happened to be modeling two such Monkey outfits. Adorable!
